Major differences in Windows 11 & windows 10

Windows 11, the first major update since 2015 when Windows 10 was launched, has started rolling out. Microsoft’s latest operating system offers a new interface and many features that bring Windows into the post-2020 world and more people working between their homes and offices. For existing Windows 10 users, Windows 11 will be available as a free upgrade but it may take until mid-2022.

Major differences between Windows 11 & windows 10

Of course that’s assuming your computer is compatible. Don’t worry if you still need to upgrade to Windows 10 – a free Windows 10 download trick still works for many people.

You do not have to upgrade from Windows 10 to windows 11. Not until at least 2025, when Microsoft says it will no longer support Windows 10.

Let’s take a look at the major changes Microsoft has made to the new OS compared to Windows 10.

Windows 10 Vs. Windows 11

Interface & Design

A more Mac-like interface in the OS is a big change. A clean design with rounded corners and pastel shades. The popular Start menu also goes in the middle of the screen with the taskbar. But if you want, you can move them back to the left, as they are in Windows 10.

Android app integration

Android apps will be coming to Windows 11 (though not yet) in the Microsoft Store via the Amazon App Store. (There were some ways to access Android apps on Windows 10, including if you had a Samsung Galaxy phone, but that would make it local.) That’s what Windows users have been waiting for for years. And point to another step towards that. Integration of mobile and laptop devices.

Virtual desktop support improved

Windows 11 lets you configure virtual desktops in a way similar to Max, toggling between multiple desktops for personal, work, school or gaming use. In Windows 10, it was difficult to set up and use.

Easy monitor to transfer laptop

The new OS includes features called Snap Groups and Snap Layouts – a collection of apps that you use together while sitting in the taskbar, and can be displayed or minimized at the same time for easy task switching. Are They allow you to plug in and unplug from the monitor, without losing sight of where your open windows are.

There are Microsoft teams in the taskbar

Teams are getting a new look and will be integrated directly into the Windows 11 taskbar, making it easier to access (and a bit like Apple’s FaceTime). You will be able to access teams from Windows, Mac, Android or iOS.

Widgets (OK, like)

You can now access widgets directly from the taskbar and personalize them to view whatever you want.

Improved touch screen, voice and pen support

To enhance the touch experience for tablets, Microsoft has added more space and gestures between the icons on the taskbar. Windows 11 also includes haptics in your digital pen, so you can hear and feel the companies as you use them to take notes or draw. Finally, the OS introduces voice typing and commands throughout the system.

Xbox Tech to improve gaming

Windows 11 will get some of the features found in Xbox consoles like Auto HDR and Direct Storage to improve gaming on your Windows PC. This marks another step for Microsoft to integrate PC and Xbox consoles.
