ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has said that the tour of England cricket series will not be telecast in the country due to the issue of Pakistan license.

Addressing a press conference after a meeting of the Federal Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad, the Information Minister said that the Federal Cabinet had approached Pakistan Television Corporation to contact an Indian company for live telecast. ‘S proposal has been rejected. The next Pakistan-England cricket series is scheduled to start on July 8.

He said, “PTV Sports England will not broadcast Pakistan cricket series in 2021 as Indian broadcasters have production rights,” he said, adding that the government would not allow any Indian to reverse the August 5 move.

However, the minister said that Pakistan would try to find various options, including securing broadcasting rights from the England Cricket Board and other foreign companies.

“PTV and the Pakistan Cricket Board will have to bear the financial loss due to this decision,” he stressed.

Briefing the media on other decisions of the federal cabinet in today’s meeting, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that the cabinet had approved the summary of the Interior Ministry regarding the appointment.

The meeting endorsed the May 21 Cabinet Committee on Privatization Decisions and approved the Korona Relief Package for Tajikistan to Cope with Epidemics, he said, adding that the Cabinet had approved the modernization of Tarnam It has also approved the re-recording of the national anthem.

The minister said the government wanted to give the right to vote to Pakistanis abroad and expressed concern over the PML-N’s opposition to the proposal. “In this regard, we are awaiting the PPP’s response to finalize the legislative process,” he added.

He said that the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) fulfilled the requirements of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). Fawad announced that we are going to issue an order for acquisition of 500 EVMs for the hearing of their cases in the elections of Bar Councils and Press Clubs.

He said the Canadian incident refuted Prime Minister Imran Khan’s concerns about the growing trend of Islamophobia in the West. Condemning the incident, the Cabinet urged Western countries to take immediate steps to eradicate the root cause of Islamophobia.
